The Army Commander, General Rudolf Heikal, issued today’s order on the occasion of Resistance and Liberation Day, which stated the following: Military men In the face of the crucial challenges our country faces, on the anniversary of Resistance and Liberation Day, we recall a national milestone that constituted a shining mark in the history of Lebanon, as it embodied the Lebanese people’s adherence to their land, sovereignty, and national dignity in the face of the Israeli occupation. Today, we remember the sacrifices of the martyrs and all those who contributed to preserving the nation, drawing from that stage the spirit of steadfastness, unity, and hope for a more stable and prosperous future for all Lebanese. Military men We are still living the repercussions of the ongoing Israeli aggression and the resulting destruction and thousands of martyrs and wounded in various regions, especially in the south, in conjunction with the occupation of Lebanese lands. The army is exerting its utmost ability, under complex circumstances and great dangers, with the aim of mitigating the effects of the aggression, and standing by citizens, especially the displaced and those who are steadfast among them, in conjunction with its ongoing security missions that include fighting terrorism and organized crime, arresting wanted persons and those disturbing security, and controlling and protecting the northern and eastern borders. Stick to your message, maintain your morale and permanent readiness, and be confident that civil peace and national unity are the most powerful weapon to protect and stabilize Lebanon, and this is achieved thanks to the army’s steadfastness and determination. As for attacking the institution and questioning its role from here or there, sometimes through defamation and accusations of negligence, and sometimes through sectarian and regional rumors and false slander that serve the enemies of Lebanon, this will not prevent it from continuing to perform its duty. Our message is clear: The army will be an impenetrable bulwark in the face of conspiracies that push towards destabilizing internal stability and civil peace. Thanks to the steadfastness of its soldiers and the sacrifices of its martyrs and wounded, the army will remain strong and cohesive, a guardian of national unity.
